Know your Peristeen Plus
There are several parts of the Peristeen Plus Transanal Irrigation System, including:
- Water bag with temperature indicator
- Control unit with pump for inflating balloon catheter and pumping water, knob for regulating air and water
- Screw top
- Coated rectal balloon catheter
- Tubes
- Straps to secure the system while in use
When should I replace parts of Peristeen Plus?
You will need to replace parts of your Peristeen Plus Transanal Irrigation System periodically.
You should replace the Peristeen Plus control unit and screw top every 90 uses and the water bag should be replaced every 15 uses.
If you are irrigating daily, this means you should replace the Peristeen Plus control unit and screw top every 3 months and the water bag should be replaced twice per month.
If you use your Peristeen Plus every other day, your control unit and screw top should be replaced every 6 months. The water bag should be replaced once a month.
You should keep the screw top and attached tube to reuse for multiple water bags. Remember not to dispose of the screw top with each water bag.
The tubes should also be replaced after 90 uses. Straps should be replaced when the elasticity weakens.
The coated rectal catheter is a single-use part. It cannot be reused and must be disposed of after completing your irrigation.
