Who we are and what we do

Coloplast is a manufacturer of catheters for bladder emptying as well as other medical devices for personal use.

Listening and responding to people’s needs is what drives our work

Around 348 million people live with bladder issues worldwide. Coloplast are committed to help them with their personal and private healthcare needs by offering products, services, and information, which can be useful in their everyday lives. Listening and responding to people’s needs is what drives our work. The feedback that we get from you is used as input to the development and testing of new products and services.

Develop products with user’s needs in mind

We want to help people live an active and rewarding life, by developing products that are safe, functional, discrete and fit for individual needs and lifestyles.

Coloplast supports catheter users

Support to users on catheters

We offer direct guidance to help people manage their condition including product samples enabling people to find the best possible products to suit their needs and lifestyle. Our Coloplast Care team of advisers can be the extended hand when settling in with bladder issues.

Support and education for healthcare professionals

We offer educational material and guidance to doctors and nurses to support their professional care when it comes to helping patients to become self-reliant and manage the transition from hospital to home and setting them up for their life with managing bladder issues.

Work on increasing understanding intimate healthcare needs and challenges can be difficult to share with others and some fear going out in public. We want to break the silence and increase understanding and make it easier for people to talk about.

  • Coloplast history

    It all started in 1954…

Our company reflects the passion, ambition and commitment of the people who made it happen. Elise Sørensen, a nurse, invented the first disposable, self-adhesive ostomy pouch because she was determined to help her sister out of isolation. Aage Louis-Hansen and his wife Johanne added engineering ability and entrepreneurial drive, and through strong commitment and resilience they founded Coloplast in 1957. Still today, people with intimate healthcare needs often live in isolation. We are fighting to change that.
