Who can use the Peristeen Anal Plug?
The Peristeen Anal Plug is designed to support you in regaining control if you are living with faecal incontinence. If you find you struggle to control when your bowel empties, the Peristeen Anal Plug may be a solution for you.
It's compact, making it easy to insert, and it’s discreet in its size. It fits naturally into your daily routine. Whether you're at home, at work, or out for a walk, it helps create a barrier against stool leakage— to help provide you with a sense of security and peace of mind.
You may choose to use the Peristeen Anal Plug by itself or together with other bowel management products. For example, if you use Peristeen Plus or Peristeen Light, you may wish to wear the Peristeen Anal Plug between your irrigations with your TAI system.
How to use
Peristeen Anal Plug is inserted into the rectum in a similar way to a suppository. It gently expands to fit the rectum once it is inside.
Preparing your Peristeen Anal Plug
Wash your hands and take out the plug from the packaging. Smear a small amount of Peristeen Anal Plug Gel on the plug. Other lubricants may be used instead.
Inserting your Peristeen Anal Plug
Relax your muscles and gently push the plug just past the muscular opening of the rectum (sphincters), so that the entire plug is inserted into the rectum. Leave the gauze hanging outside of your body.
Using your Peristeen Anal Plug
When positioned in the rectum the plug will quickly expand to full size as the film dissolves.
Removing your Peristeen Anal Plug
The plug is removed from the rectum by gently pulling the gauze. After disposal wash your hands. The product is intended for single use only and should be disposed of in accordance with local guidelines, e.g. with normal household waste. Do not flush the product down the toilet.
