How to eat and drink to keep your bladder in great shape

Your general well-being may influence how you perceive your bladder issues. If you don’t feel well, you might also feel this negatively impacts your bladder problems. Eating healthy food and living a healthy lifestyle may give you energy, make your body stronger, improve your self-image and may make you feel better.

Fill one or more bottles or jugs with water containing a total of 1.5-2 liters of water and store them in the fridge. That will keep the water nice and cold and you will know that once you have emptied them you have reached your daily amount.

Eat less and limit the occasions where you eat while watching television. Avoid oversized portions. Use a smaller plate or bowl. Portion out foods before you eat – then you can arrange it nicely too. When dining out, choose smaller portions or share a dish.

Switch to fat-free or low-fat milk. They have the same amounts of calcium and vitamin D, but less calories.

Make half your plate fruits and/or vegetables. Consider that you have all colors on your plate including red, orange, light green and dark green. Find healthier snacks to enjoy whether you are relaxing at home or out with friends or family.

Make foods such as cakes, cookies, ice cream, pizza and burgers occasional choices – not everyday foods. When you do have them, try to eat in smaller quantities.

Drink water instead of sugary drinks.

Eating too much salt can raise your blood pressure. Eat less salt and experiment with other spices and flavors. Look at food labels and try to select the one with less salt.
